Refrigeration Recycling

Because of the current way of the environment, new controls have been put into place to protect the ozone layer. There is now legislation that needs to be followed when it comes to disposing of your old refrigeration products. This regulation covers many fridges and freezers that are being disposed of today, so read on to find out if this affects you.

Does My Fridge Need Special Recycling?

If your refrigerator contains ozone depleting substances such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), it needs to be recycled safely so that these substances do not have a damaging effect on the environment. If your item is considerably older, made before the mid 1990’s, it is likely that it contains these substances. You would therefore need to make sure that it is recycled according to refrigeration disposal regulations.
